Amy's Awakening: From High-Functioning Alcoholic to Purpose-Driven Advocate

It's okay to bring your entire self to the table. It's exactly what I need to do, and so for me, it's choosing mentors that are going to continuously see my blind spots and have the courage to tell me: Amy, that's your blind spot, I know it's hard to look at, and let's look at it and creating that safe environment for me to feel it and to look at it and then go, okay, I'm going to do it, and I think that that's what's missing in the integration piece of recovery.
What happens when a high-functioning alcoholic decides to turn their life around? In this episode of Recovery Happy Hour, host Tricia Lewis sits down with Amy, who grew up in a large Mexican family where helping others was second nature. Despite her supportive upbringing, Amy struggled with alcoholism and trauma. A life-changing intervention became the catalyst for her to find a recovery program that truly resonated with her.
Through coaching, Amy discovered her true calling and now dedicates her life to helping others thrive with purpose. She opens up about the importance of advocating for oneself, the grieving process in recovery, and the often-overlooked integration piece that can make all the difference. This conversation is a heartfelt exploration of finding one's complete self and navigating the complexities of recovery. If you're looking for a story that combines personal struggle with ultimate triumph, Amy's journey is sure to inspire.
