Steve C's Journey: From Iraq to Recovery and Veterans Court

We've all experienced PTSD: coming into the meetings, coming into the rooms, and there's so much pain associated with getting clean and sober that in many cases this is what causes the relapse.
Steve C's story is a powerful testament to resilience and the human spirit. In this episode of The SHAIR Recovery Podcast, hosted by Omar Pinto, Steve opens up about his battle with alcoholism and PTSD, which began during his time in Iraq. To cope with the horrors of war, Steve turned to alcohol, but this coping mechanism spiraled into a full-blown addiction upon his return home.
His journey took a dramatic turn when his son also fell victim to addiction, pushing Steve to seek help through Alcoholics Anonymous. Now celebrating four years of sobriety, Steve not only maintains his own recovery but also helps others through a community outreach program and Veterans Court. This court aims to rehabilitate veterans facing legal issues by addressing their underlying problems, such as addiction and PTSD.
Through candid conversations and heartfelt advice, Steve shares the importance of mentorship and support systems in overcoming addiction. His story is a beacon of hope for anyone struggling with similar challenges, offering practical insights and inspiration for those on the path to recovery.
