Tia Johnson: Triumph Over Addiction, PTSD, and Domestic Violence

I can get through anything, and that was a realization that I came through after my father died. I didn't do it alone, the more we try and handle these things on our own is where it becomes so much more difficult to really lean into our strengths and our courage.
How do you rebuild your life when it feels like everything is stacked against you? Tia Johnson knows this struggle all too well. As a member of the Recovery Revolution community and a nursing student, Tia has faced the daunting task of overcoming addiction, PTSD, and domestic violence. Her story is one of remarkable resilience and transformation.
In this episode of The SHAIR Recovery Podcast, hosted by Omar Pinto, Tia opens up about her journey from using alcohol and self-harm as coping mechanisms to finding a path of recovery and self-love. She candidly discusses the challenges she faced, including the daily triggers of PTSD and the impact of an abusive relationship. Tia's insights on seeking help, feeling safe, and being honest about one's struggles offer valuable lessons for anyone dealing with similar issues.
She also shares her experience of raising children after trauma and how her journey has empowered her to support others in her healthcare career. Tia's story is a powerful reminder of the strength of the human spirit and the importance of community and support in the recovery process.
