A Gift from Skylar: Stacee and Terry's Journey of Healing

It's just those of us that are driven here through the really insanity of this disease of addiction. Because when I do that I have peace, I see a lot of joy and I can live with the fact that I lost my only son to this disease and I can get up in the morning.
Imagine receiving the phone call every parent dreads. Ten years ago, Stacee and Terry faced this nightmare when their son, Skylar, died from an overdose at just 20 years old. In this episode of 'Stories of Recovery', they open up about their heart-wrenching journey through grief and how they found a path to healing through the 12 Step program. Their family had long been entangled in chaos and codependency, but Skylar's tragic loss became a turning point.
With the support of the MARR community, Stacee and Terry navigated their pain, discovering the transformative power of recovery. They discuss the critical role of community, understanding addiction as a disease, and setting healthy boundaries. Through their story, they highlight the importance of seeking help and the peace that can come from sharing one's experiences. As Terry poignantly reflects, 'It's just those of us that are driven here through the really insanity of this disease of addiction.
Because when I do that I have peace, I see a lot of joy and I can live with the fact that I lost my only son to this disease and I can get up in the morning'. This episode is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the hope that can emerge from even the darkest times.
