Robert's Story: From Childhood Trauma to Recovery Triumph
I had to come back to the states, and when I came back to the states, I went directly into a methadone facility so I could try to get off of that meth kick, because the meth kick was even worse than anything else I've ever faced, even worse than a dope kick.
Growing up with an alcoholic father, Robert's childhood was anything but easy. His father's harshness seemed to target him specifically, leaving him feeling isolated and confused. By the tender age of five, Robert found himself sampling his father's alcohol. This early exposure set the stage for a tumultuous journey through substance abuse. By sixth grade, he was smoking marijuana, and it wasn't long before he progressed to cocaine and heroin.
