Battling the ANTs: Tackling Automatic Negative Thoughts with Arkansas A.W.A.R.E.

And so what you think about, your perceptions about things can have a really direct impact on your feelings and on your behaviors. And so I think the thoughts sometimes, well, every time, drive kind of what can be, what can happen in those, you know, sometimes hard conversations to have, and I think that we we have to be retrospective, reflective in the way that, okay, am I ready to have this conversation and prepared to do that instead of really letting the emotions fuel us?
Ever find yourself stuck in a loop of negative thoughts? You're not alone, and Arkansas A.W.A.R.E. is here to help. In this episode, Betsy Kindall, Nicole Fairchild, and Stacy Moore dive into the concept of automatic negative thoughts, often referred to as ANTs. These pesky intruders can affect how we feel and act, but the good news is they can be managed. The hosts share their experiences with Dr.
Amen's Mind Coach resource, a tool they've used for years to help young people think positively and feel better. They discuss how these strategies can be applied in classrooms to foster a healthier mental environment for students. With their usual blend of humor and wisdom, Betsy, Nicole, and Stacy make complex ideas easy to grasp. Whether you're an educator, parent, or just someone interested in mental health, you'll find valuable tips on identifying and squashing those negative thoughts.
The episode also touches on the importance of mindfulness and how being aware of our thoughts can lead to better mental health outcomes. By the end, you'll feel more equipped to handle your own ANTs and help others do the same. Tune in for a mix of practical advice, personal stories, and a touch of humor that makes learning about mental health engaging and relatable.
