Janet Gourand: Crafting a Path to Sobriety with World Without Wine

I constantly found myself going into that failure cycle where I'd get excited and, you know, a short time later I found myself starting all over again and I was making new Year's resolution year after year after year and with the same results.
What do you do when traditional paths to sobriety don't quite fit? For Janet Gourand, the answer was to create her own. In this episode of 'You're Sober! Now What?', hosts Tamar Medford and Lane Kennedy chat with Janet, who shares her inspiring journey from corporate life in Europe and South Africa to becoming a beacon of hope for those struggling with alcohol addiction.
Finding limited support options in South Africa and not feeling at home in rehab or AA, Janet took matters into her own hands. She attended a workshop in London, which set her on a path to sobriety and inspired her to design her own workshops aimed at helping others quit or moderate their drinking habits.
Based in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and London, these workshops draw from Janet's extensive experience in training and development, offering practical tools and a supportive community for those on the recovery journey. Janet also touches on the pitfalls of New Year's resolutions, the dangers of drinking alone, and the immense benefits of staying sober. Plus, she shares a heartfelt letter she wrote to alcohol, underscoring the importance of self-reflection and community support.
Whether you're on your own path to sobriety or supporting someone who is, this episode offers a blend of real-life experiences and actionable advice that can make all the difference.
