Imagine growing up in a mobile home park with a single mom battling mental health issues and an absent, alcoholic father. For Rickey Dolla Green, this was reality. By the 6th grade, Rickey found solace in selling drugs, quickly becoming the go-to guy for anything his peers wanted. His life spiraled into cooking meth and living out gangster rap fantasies, but it wasn't long before he couldn't even support his own habit.
Multiple felonies, prison stints, and time in homeless shelters followed. A lucky break landed him in drug rehab, and that’s where Rickey's transformation began. In this episode of 'The High Cost of Anonymity', Rickey shares his raw and inspiring journey from rock bottom to redemption. Pardoned by the Governor of Kentucky, he now serves on the board at Volunteers of America and advocates for those trying to bounce back from lives marred by crime and addiction.
He’s turned his life around, running a successful photography business and pursuing his passion as a hip hop artist. Hosts Preston Moore and K Preston Moore dive deep into Rickey’s story, highlighting the power of therapy, building support systems, and redefining success. Rickey’s tale is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the transformative power of sharing your story.
This episode is a must-listen for anyone grappling with addiction or mental health issues, offering a beacon of hope and practical advice for overcoming life's toughest challenges.
