Chris F.: From Chaos to Clarity in Alcoholics Anonymous

It is the person that not only has a compulsive urge to drink that's been removed, but they have found a source of power to get them through everyday living without having to even question whether or not they should be drinking beer or any other kind of substance to do that for them.
Chris F. grew up constantly on the move, thanks to his military family. With a father he feared and a sense of loneliness, he found solace in alcohol at just nine years old. What started as curiosity soon spiraled into a series of run-ins with the law, landing him in juvenile hall and later, the California Youth Authority. Anger fueled his life, leading to disruptive behaviors even in AA meetings.
It wasn't until he questioned why no one liked him that his journey to true sobriety began. In this episode of the 'Keep Coming Back Podcast', Chris shares how he transformed his anger into peace and purpose through the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous. He dives into the Big Book and its 147 promises, revealing how these teachings helped him forgive his father and find freedom from his past.
Chris emphasizes the importance of sponsorship, service, and making newcomers feel welcome in AA meetings. Chris's story is a powerful reminder that recovery is possible, no matter how tumultuous one's past may be. His journey from a troubled youth to an old-timer in AA offers hope and practical insights for anyone struggling with addiction or supporting someone who is.
