Finding Strength in Self: Bari's Journey Through Addiction and Recovery

I love the conception of having to define what a higher power is and have a conception in my head of what it looks like, because I've learned that anything that I think is god-like, for the shortened way to say it for me, is not god, because that's my conception of it.
Bari's story is one that many can relate to, especially if the traditional notion of a higher power just doesn't resonate. Growing up without a connection to God, Bari felt a constant sense of unease that led her down a path of bulimia and alcoholism. Imagine surviving on just 700 calories a day—it's a stark reality she faced during her darkest times.
But Bari's journey took a turn when she sought help from her high school health teacher, which eventually led her to a mutual support group where she found her 'people'. These were the individuals who helped her navigate the choppy waters of addiction recovery. What's truly fascinating about Bari's story is how she redefined the concept of a higher power to fit her own beliefs.
She realized that anything she could conceive as god-like wasn't god at all—it was just her own interpretation. This revelation was pivotal in her recovery process. Instead of following the traditional 12-step approach, Bari found new depths and experiences by tailoring the steps to suit her own needs. Her story underscores the idea that there's no one-size-fits-all solution to addiction recovery. It’s about finding what works for you, even if it means breaking away from conventional methods.
Bari’s experience serves as a powerful reminder that the journey to recovery is deeply personal and unique to each individual. So, if you're struggling with addiction or know someone who is, this episode offers a fresh perspective on how to carve out your own path to healing. Tune in to hear more about Bari's inspiring journey and discover that it's okay to seek help and find your own way.
