Creating Alcohol-Free Social Spaces: Chris Marshall's Mission with Sans Bar

I think that alcohol is probably going to do the same thing. Yeah, I mean they, and they try to do this whole thing like where it's fat. But I think the pandemic helped people to understand how vital making informed decisions was and how important knowing yourself and knowing what what's right for you is in a way that I've just fully not even I'm not even able to fully articulate this thought, because it's been something that's just been new.
Ever wondered what it would be like to socialize without the buzz of alcohol? In this episode of 'Naturally High', Jeanne Foot chats with Chris Marshall, the inspiring founder of Sans Bar, an alcohol-free community space in Austin, Texas. Chris, a mental health advocate and writer, has been sober since 2007 and has dedicated his life to creating safe and inclusive environments where people can connect authentically.
He believes that genuine relationships are built on vulnerability and trust, not on the crutch of alcohol. Chris shares his journey from substance abuse counselor to founding Sans Bar in 2017, driven by the belief that everyone deserves a space where they can be themselves without the pressure to drink. The conversation delves into how these sober spaces can foster deeper connections and support mental well-being.
They also touch on the broader sobriety movement and how the alcohol industry is responding to the growing demand for alcohol-free options. Jeanne and Chris discuss the importance of pacing oneself in any endeavor, whether it's achieving personal goals or embracing a sober lifestyle. The episode highlights how the pandemic has shifted perspectives on socializing and the value of making informed, conscious choices about one's health and well-being.
Chris also shares exciting future plans for Sans Bar, aiming to expand its reach and impact. If you're curious about how to build authentic connections without alcohol or looking for inspiration on your own sobriety journey, this episode offers valuable insights and practical advice. Tune in to hear Chris Marshall's story and learn how you can create your own safe and inclusive social spaces.
