Healing Through Indigenous Wisdom: Myranda Bennett on Tales of Recovery

We all came in here with all these different gifts, and because of labeling, because of everything that's happened within the new age movement too, we think: oh, it has to be a certain way, or this or that way, also within religion, being told: no, that's bad, you're just, you're crazy, all of these things and then getting into this space where we all have these abilities on huge levels, and it's just about figuring out where and how to utilize it for our personal medicine.
What happens when you combine the ancient wisdom of indigenous teachings with modern struggles? In this episode of Tales of Recovery, Gris Alves sits down with Myranda Bennett, a Holy Guardian of Indigenous Teachings, Shamanic Practitioner, and High Priestess. Myranda's journey is one of spiritual depth and resilience. Raised in a spiritually rich Lakota tradition by her mother, a Holy Woman, Myranda was immersed in the sacred and the mystical from a young age.
But like many, she veered off this path in her early twenties, seeking what society defines as success. It wasn't until she hit rock bottom that she found her way back to her roots and began her true journey of self-healing and spiritual enlightenment. In this heartfelt conversation, Myranda shares the profound impact of colonialism on her family and community, and how she overcame depression and addiction through reconnecting with her heritage.
She discusses the importance of shadow work—facing our deepest fears and traumas—to uncover one's personal medicine and live authentically. Myranda's story is a powerful reminder of the strength found in community and the necessity of breaking free from dysfunctional patterns and limiting beliefs. With a strong back and a soft heart, she invites us all to remember and reclaim what has always belonged to us.
This episode is a beacon for anyone looking to heal, recover, and embrace their true selves.
