I don't know how I did all the stuff that I did. You know, it was just so many things happened, but it was really clear to me that there were so many close calls and I was really blessed to never have to have legal consequences because I broke the law and I did a lot of stupid stuff repeatedly.
What happens when a young person grows up surrounded by the principles of recovery but still falls into the trap of addiction? Pete’s story is a gripping account of just that. He had his first drink at 13, despite being the child of recovering alcoholics. Feeling isolated and unable to relate to his peers, Pete turned to alcohol as a means to fit in.
His drinking quickly spiraled out of control, leading to expulsion from school and a life dominated by alcohol. On an overseas trip with older students, Pete drank excessively to gain their approval, further deepening his addiction. However, after several close calls and moments of realization, Pete sought help. Through working the steps and engaging with others in recovery meetings, he found his way to sobriety.
