So I think that has been really beneficial. So sometimes I have used it as a way of getting a bit of mindfulness when somebody is having an urge for example that might be to do a compulsive behavior or to self-harm that to try and put in a bit of knitting or seeking reassurance about something so that has been really helpful.
Imagine finding peace and mindfulness through the rhythmic click of knitting needles. In this episode, clinical psychologists Dr. Paula Redmond and Dr. Mia Hobbs chat with Dr. Andrew Tressider about how knitting and other crafts can be powerful tools in combating burnout and promoting well-being, especially for healthcare professionals. Dr. Redmond and Dr.
Hobbs have crafted an online course designed to help people use knitting intentionally for self-care, highlighting its potential to reduce stress, foster mindfulness, and build a sense of accomplishment. Dr. Paula Redmond brings over 15 years of experience in the NHS, primarily working in older adult mental health services. She finds creativity not just a hobby but a vital source of restoration and connection. Meanwhile, Dr.
Mia Hobbs integrates her passion for knitting into her work with children and families facing mental health challenges, offering workshops and courses that blend therapy with craft.
