Robert Scoggins: From Combat Missions to Healing Others
For me, it's about saying that tough doesn't mean strong, it doesn't mean unaccepting, it doesn't mean rigid and not able to change.
Imagine flying through war zones, rescuing lives, and then battling your own inner demons. That's the story of Robert Scoggins, a former Air Force pilot whose life took a dramatic turn. Growing up in small-town Georgia, Robert was more into sports than books. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 2003 and soared through the skies as a helicopter pilot, clocking over 1500 flight hours. But the adrenaline rush came at a cost.
Diagnosed with PTSD and a traumatic brain injury, Robert's military career ended in 2015. The toll on his mental health led him down a dark path of alcohol and addiction. In this episode of 'The Addiction Podcast - Point of No Return', Robert opens up about his struggles with addiction and the nightmares that haunted him. He talks about hitting rock bottom and how he found a lifeline in the When Warriors Program.
This program helped him rediscover his values and passions, turning his life around. Now, Robert is dedicated to helping others who face similar battles. His story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of finding new purpose. Whether you're dealing with addiction, PTSD, or any other challenge, Robert's journey offers a beacon of hope.
