Finding Serenity: Expectations, Addiction Behaviors, and the Power of Surrender
It is very clear to me at this point that this is a Daily reprieve... It trips me out sometimes because when I'm talking to somebody that's not, I guess, as what we would call a normie, a normal individual that doesn't deal with the disease, addiction. Enjoy the fact that I don't have to chase a substance all the time, or chase, you know, live. But through the people in our meeting and just practicing recovery, like, I've learned to accept that that's where they are in life. There's really nothing I can do to fix it.
Ever wondered how your expectations might be shaping your journey to recovery? In this episode of The Recovery Pod, Steven is joined by Wes and Erik to explore just that. While Ana is busy hitting the books, the trio dives deep into how unmet expectations can stir up resentment and hinder acceptance. They share personal stories of grappling with addiction behaviors and the mistakes they've made along the way.
But it’s not all doom and gloom—there’s a silver lining in the form of surrender. Steven opens up about his struggle to stay present and how letting go of control has brought him peace. Wes and Erik chime in with their own experiences, highlighting the paradoxes of recovery and the importance of finding a supportive community. Together, they reveal that self-improvement is a daily practice requiring patience and acceptance.
Whether you're battling addiction or just looking for ways to better your life, this episode offers a treasure trove of insights. Tune in to discover how embracing surrender can lead you to serenity.
