My only goal 15 years ago was making money. Money was what fueled me. How'd you get that money? I was dealing drugs. I was dealing drugs. I was dealing drugs. I was an enforcer too. So you owed money. And it wasn't pretty when I showed up at your doorstep because it meant someone was going to get hurt. And if I wasn't going to hurt you, I was going to hurt a family member, someone you loved, because that money was going to be in my hand by the time I left. Very, very evil person. A lot of people will give testimony and say, you know, back when I was doing the things I did, I felt remorse and I felt sympathy and sorry. I had no empathy. I was evil through and through, and I was going to hurt people to get what I wanted.
Imagine living a life so entangled in crime and addiction that it seems impossible to escape. Michael Ocho Torena, also known as Ocho, knows this reality all too well. In this gripping episode of the Healing Voices Project, Ocho revisits his tumultuous past as a gang member, heroin addict, and loan shark enforcer. His story is raw and unfiltered, offering a candid look at the darkness he once lived in.
But what makes this episode truly compelling is Ocho's incredible transformation. Today, he stands as a professional actor, director, evangelist, and motivational speaker. His most cherished roles, however, are those of a loving husband and father. This isn't just a story of survival; it's a story of redemption and hope. Ocho's journey is a powerful testament to the strength of the human spirit and the profound impact of faith and family support.
Whether you're struggling with addiction, supporting someone who is, or simply looking for an inspiring tale of transformation, this episode offers a beacon of hope and resilience.
