Championing Change: Women Leading Mental Health Recovery

We want to see what our education can change, and in that I want to say that you know I did give recognition to you as heading up the stepping up initiative and, and also commissioner Williams, but who I failed to recognize and I think is most important, the who I should be thanking the most is people such as miss character, yes, someone who has gone through it, someone who has benefited from the education, she's benefited from the change and she's out there and she's advocating and she's putting the message out that there is hope, you know, and there is light at the end of the tunnel.
What happens when two passionate advocates for mental health recovery come together? In this episode of The Recovery Hour, hosts Bill Carruthers and Tanisha Character sit down with Dr. Laklieshia Izzard and Claudette Harden, both influential members of the NAMI Rockdale Newton Board of Directors. These dynamic women share their inspiring visions and ambitious goals for the mental health recovery community, shedding light on the projects they are spearheading and their unwavering commitment to making a positive impact. Dr.
Izzard and Ms. Harden delve into the importance of community support, the urgent need to tackle systemic racism, and the power of peer-to-peer initiatives. They discuss how attending webinars on diversity, equity, and inclusion can make a difference, and highlight the significance of events like the African-American male symposium in fostering understanding and change. Listeners will be moved by their stories and motivated by their actionable insights on breaking cultural barriers and advancing mental health recovery.
Whether you're directly affected by mental health challenges or supporting someone who is, this episode offers a wealth of information and hope. Tune in to hear how these powerful women are leading the charge in transforming the landscape of mental health recovery.
