Transforming Nervousness into Excitement: A New Approach to Stress

"Nervousness is a sort of common physiological response to stress. So we're put in certain situations and we have mimicked fight or flight and anxiety. I'm like, well, don't do that, they're just going to do it right. I think, really thinking about it, this is what Simon said, which is- and, by the way, that's his hashtag- Simon says, which is great, is this: if you ask- and he gave the example, I think he was talking about the Olympics and it was a lot of the reporters would ask these athletes, these are obviously some of the most you know dominant athletes in the world, and they're performing on such a high, such a large stage, with so much at stake, right? You look at that and you're like that's crazy."

Ever caught yourself or your kids saying 'I'm nervous' before a big event? Dr. Christopher Fasano takes this common feeling and flips it on its head in this episode of The Better Mental Health Show. Instead of viewing nervousness as a negative, he suggests we should see it as excitement. This simple yet powerful mindset shift can change how we physically and mentally prepare for stressful situations. Dr.

Fasano explains how this approach can be especially beneficial for children, helping them build resilience and a positive outlook on life. He also emphasizes the importance of not dismissing children's feelings but rather encouraging open communication to better understand and manage their emotions. If you're curious about how a small change in perspective can make a big difference, this episode is a must-listen.
