Charles 'Bud' Dasey: D-Day Memories and Life Lessons

I thank you for this opportunity to talk and to tell my story of my service and what I think about it and what we did.
What does it mean to carry the weight of history in a box? Meet Charles 'Bud' Dasey, a 19-year-old sailor who landed on Normandy's shores 70 years ago and now, at 89, travels with his 'D-Day in a Box' exhibit.
In this episode of 'One Hour AT A Time', host Mary Woods chats with Bud about his incredible journey from the beaches of Normandy to classrooms and museums, where he educates young minds about the pivotal events of World War II. Bud’s collection, which started with a single box of memorabilia, has grown over the years to include a detailed 3-D model of the invasion, complete with hundreds of tiny pieces.
His stories bring to life the courage and sacrifice of those who fought alongside him. Beyond recounting wartime experiences, Bud also touches on the importance of honoring veterans and maintaining military cemeteries as a tribute to their bravery. He reflects on his own health journey and shares thoughts on supporting mental health recovery. This conversation is not just a history lesson; it's a heartfelt tribute to resilience and the human spirit.
Whether you're a history buff or someone seeking inspiration, Bud's story offers valuable insights into both the past and present.
