I realize that a lot of what is happening in the world is due to a lack of intimacy. To me, it seems that's the most important thing. How can we create spaces where people can be their authentic self with themselves and each other? One of the programs we created was how to create intimacy in a work setting. And it happens, and it's like magic. People experience real connection with other people.
Imagine growing up in a home where addiction is a constant presence. Dr. Joel Bennett knows this reality all too well. In this engaging episode of APC Recovery Cafe, hosts Carrie and Art Wimberly chat with Dr. Bennett, President of Organizational Wellness and Learning Systems (OWLS). They dive into his personal experiences with a parent battling alcohol use disorder and another with a process addiction, and how these experiences fueled his passion for understanding relationships and connection. Dr.
Bennett opens up about his belief that work can significantly shape our identities and serve as a sanctuary for health and well-being. Through OWLS, he collaborates with organizations to enhance employee wellness and mental health, especially crucial in today's world. He highlights the importance of creating environments where people can truly be themselves, fostering genuine connections that go beyond the superficial. The conversation touches on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health and workplace dynamics. Dr.
Bennett shares insights into breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and emphasizes the power of vulnerability. He calls for more off-the-clock conversations and deeper connections with ourselves and others, suggesting that these interactions can be transformative. If you're curious about how to build meaningful relationships at work and beyond, this episode offers valuable perspectives and practical advice. Dr.
