I was hoping that things would get better, but it didn't. So my wife rang the NHS service here in the UK for 111 you dial 111 and you list your symptoms they give you a rough guess of what it is and they said it may be some kind of infection or something because it wasn't the classic stroke symptoms so she put the phone down and rang for the 909 because we weren't really getting any kind of response. So they said, we think it it probably likely could be an infection and they asked my wife do you think you can get david to the the uh emergency the er and uh she couldn't even hold me keep me up balanced and so i couldn't even get downstairs so i just shuffled down on my backside down the steps and left the church house in the area that I'd been ministering in for three years in the back of an ambulance, holding this paramedic's hands.
Imagine waking up one day unable to move or communicate, yet finding a way to turn that into a mission to help others. That's the incredible story of Rev David Hazeldine, who experienced not one, but four ischemic strokes, with the last one resulting in brainstem damage and locked-in syndrome. In this episode of 'Recovery After Stroke', David opens up about the profound physical and emotional challenges he faced during his recovery journey.
Despite these immense hurdles, his unwavering faith and sense of purpose have been his guiding lights. David didn't just stop at his own recovery; he authored a book and started a podcast to support fellow stroke survivors. His story is a powerful reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and how faith can be a cornerstone in overcoming life's toughest battles.
Whether you're a stroke survivor, a caregiver, or someone looking for inspiration, David's journey offers valuable insights and hope.
