Breaking Down Barriers: Arrowhead Behavioral Health's Approach to Substance Use Disorders

We don't put labels on folks that are suffering from cancer or diabetes like we do with our folks that are suffering from substance abuse. We're starting to notice a lot more people suffering from addiction, from opioids... the more positive that we have to kind of grab onto. I think it resonates a little differently when you have someone that can tell stories about their rock bottom and then present in a way that look where I'm at now and I'm here and I want to give back and I want to help.
Ever wondered how to support a loved one struggling with addiction? This episode of 'Stigma Busters' is here to help. Host Joel O'Dorisio sits down with Phil Hartman, Director of Business Development at Arrowhead Behavioral Health, to dive into the services and programs they offer. But it's not just about the services; they tackle some of the most persistent myths about substance use disorders that often prevent people from seeking help.
You'll hear about the behavioral and social signs of these disorders, the medical aspects of detoxing, and the heavy stigma that surrounds it. The conversation is filled with practical advice on how to support those you care about and stories that highlight positive outcomes and recovery. If you're looking for a mix of expert insights and heartfelt advocacy, this episode is a must-listen. Tune in to understand how we can collectively weed out stigma and plant seeds of understanding.
