Admitting something isn't right or isn't working, or now I would say isn't serving me, but in the past I would have said admitting that I was failing is okay. If we always succeeded, things we plateau, we just become this, I'm always good at this. And it will just get into this groove and just keep going and keep going. And yet we would never know that there might be greater things out there. It's when we fail or when we accept that something isn't working that we then stop, evaluate, consider, think about, you know, what's, what's, what could, what better could it be? We had no idea where we were, how much better things might be. So I would think accepting failure as being something good is probably the biggest thing that I've gotten.
Ever felt like admitting you have a problem is the hardest part of recovery? Kristi Lynn knows this struggle all too well. A survivor of childhood abuse, domestic violence, and two bouts of cancer, Kristi adds recovering alcoholic to her list of battles. In this episode of 'Together S.O.B.E.R.', she opens up about her journey to sobriety, revealing the emotional hurdles she faced along the way.
For Kristi, the toughest challenge was accepting the label 'alcoholic', a term she initially saw as synonymous with failure and shame. However, embracing this label became one of the most liberating experiences of her life. Kristi's story is a testament to the power of speaking one's truth. She believes that by sharing our secrets and struggles, we not only heal ourselves but also help others on their path to recovery.
Her candid narrative offers a deep dive into the transformative nature of self-awareness and emotional sobriety. Whether you're on your own journey to sobriety or supporting someone who is, Kristi's story is a powerful reminder that it's okay to accept our flaws as steps toward growth.
