Laura Boswell: Mastering Printmaking and Sharing the Craft
I think the biggest thing that I've learned from it in a way is how much I have to learn, which sounds a bit cheesy, but every time I teach people- and certainly I often teach people who've never made a print before- I always learn something in return and however much I may think that I know stuff, they always throw something up.
What drives an artist to master not one, but multiple forms of printmaking? Laura Boswell, a talented printmaker specializing in linocut, woodblock, and traditional Japanese woodblock printing, shares her journey on this episode of 'Born to Create'. Hosted by Maria-Katharina Richters, this conversation dives into Laura's rich experiences, from her studies in Art History at the University of Wales to her prestigious memberships and residencies in Japan.
Laura's passion for printmaking is evident as she discusses her teaching methods and the joy she finds in sharing her skills through her YouTube channel. With two published books under her belt, 'Making Japanese Woodblock Prints' and 'Linocut and Reduction Printing', Laura offers a wealth of knowledge to both beginners and seasoned artists alike.
Throughout the episode, Laura opens up about the challenges and rewards of running an art business, the importance of continual learning, and the transformative power of creativity.
