I used to drink to fly. It was my only coping mechanism I had. And the first time I flew again, after I started drinking, I remember drinking and I remember landing and being like, that was so easy. Yeah. So flying as when I got sober was one of the biggest, hardest, scariest things for me to wrap my head around.
Ever thought about taking a vacation without alcohol? Maddie Forrest did just that, and she’s here to share the highs and lows of her first sober group trip to Costa Rica. Joined by her mom, Megan, Maddie dives into the details of this transformative journey, where the theme of conquering fears took center stage. For Maddie, who once relied on alcohol to cope with her fear of flying, this trip marked a significant milestone.
She flew sober and alone for the first time, challenging her self-imposed limits and discovering new strengths. But it wasn’t just Maddie who faced her fears.
