Robin Horsfall: From Soldier to Advocate - A Journey of Resilience

Integrity sometimes is standing up against the group for being the one person that says, no, you are all wrong, and accepting the fact that everybody is going to exclude you from society, exclude you from the group because they disagree with you.
What does it take to transform from a boy soldier into a beacon of resilience and advocacy? Robin Horsfall’s life story is nothing short of extraordinary. At just fifteen, he joined the army, becoming a paratrooper by seventeen and an SAS soldier by twenty-one. In this episode of 'Steps to Sobriety', host Stephan Neff delves into Robin's incredible journey through five wars, his role as a Royal Marine Sniper, and his career as a top bodyguard.
Robin’s path didn’t stop at the battlefield; he was one of the UK’s first paramedics and even built a medical center in the Guyana Jungle. But that’s just scratching the surface. After breaking his neck, Robin turned to education, graduating from Surrey University at fifty-nine. His passion for martial arts led him to teach thousands of children karate, building Europe’s largest independent children’s karate group.
Currently, Robin is an active voice for the Northern Ireland Veterans Movement and a survivor of bladder cancer. Married for forty years and a great-grandfather, Robin’s life is a testament to perseverance and transformation. Tune in to hear Robin share his insights on standing up for what’s right, the impact of violence and alcohol in UK culture, and the power of education and creativity.
