There's so much beauty and so much power and strength in 12-step programs. And I think there are also some old ideas and some rigidity, for sure, that prevents them from becoming even more effective. And that's just how I feel. And I can tell you that the 12 steps, the doctrine, and the love of the people that helped me saved my life and changed my life forever. And so I can say, yes, it saved and changed my life and it could be even better.
Ever wondered if the traditional 12-step program is the only path to recovery? In this episode of 'In The Circle', Tommy Rosen sits down with Jeanne, a member of the Recovery 2.0 community, to discuss her journey. While the 12 steps laid the groundwork for Jeanne’s sobriety, she felt a pull towards exploring other healing methods. What started as a simple question about modern healing techniques turned into a deep dive into the flaws in America's addiction treatment system.
Jeanne and Tommy examine the pitfalls of relying solely on medication for addiction treatment and stress the importance of a multifaceted approach. They advocate for incorporating yoga, breathwork, physical activity, a healthy diet, community time, and nature into the recovery process. Jeanne's story serves as a powerful reminder that recovery is not one-size-fits-all. Tommy's empathetic style and Jeanne's candidness make this episode both insightful and inspiring.
