I wanted the book to share some of that light, especially because if you think about it, perhaps you know better than I. And after I wrote the book, I did a lot of research on books out there that speak to this kind of upbringing. They're very rare combination of books that speak to the lifestyle that I had. And then look at transformation from a sense of you go from 100%, 1000 degree of anger, violence, and rage to peace and no conflict, right? Figuring out ways to mediate and things of that nature without leaning on religion, right? Without leaning on that kind of thing. This is solely my heart and saying, this is the right thing to do for me.
What happens when a life marked by gang activity and violence turns into one dedicated to peace and community building? In this episode of 'Scope of Practice', Iran Nazario, the Founder of the Peace Center of Connecticut, shares his incredible journey from a troubled youth to a beacon of hope for many. Iran's story is not just about personal transformation; it's about the broader impact one individual can have on their community.
His book, 'Rage To Peace', captures this evolution, offering insights into how upbringing, poverty, and violence shape lives. But more importantly, it underscores the power of forgiveness and resilience. At the Peace Center, Iran focuses on empowering young people through various programs, including art-based therapy and community events. His candid reflections provide a raw look at the challenges faced by many youths today and the importance of providing alternative paths.
