Ever wondered how a seemingly perfect childhood can spiral into addiction? Meet LaRoco, who grew up in Brooklyn with a great childhood and no signs of trouble. But college brought unexpected challenges. She started feeling 'loopy' and life became tough after graduation, both in finding work and love. A strange journey around the world exposed her to drugs and alcohol, leading her down a path she never imagined.
At one point, she felt like she was willing to be destroyed by her substance abuse. LaRoco's story is a raw and honest look at how addiction can creep into anyone's life, no matter their background. She recalls how her world started to crumble as she turned to substances for escape. The turning point came after a particularly rough night when she decided enough was enough. She checked herself into detox and later found refuge in a halfway house.
It wasn't an easy road, but she found hope and support through daily meetings and an ever-growing network of people who understood her struggle. One of the most powerful lessons from LaRoco's journey is the importance of support networks and community. Early on, she attended meetings every day to build a strong foundation for her recovery.

Through persistence and determination, she began chairing meetings herself just six months into her recovery.
