Sobriety is so much more than not drinking and drugging. Sobriety is, here's the thing. I teach in a school here in Long Island where people go to become drug counselors. And I make all the people in the class do a step four, whether they're in recovery or not. A lady came up to me one day and I said, you know, she goes, you know, one day I want to be like, I want to run a woman's trauma group. Because she wasn't really aware of like what A was about. And I believe that, you know, I'm trying, I'd love to start this program called People's Anonymous, because I believe that if everybody had a place to go an hour a day or a couple of hours a week to dump their shit, what a better world we'd be in.
Ever wondered what it was like to party at the legendary Studio 54 in the 70s? Merrit Hartblay has stories that could fill a book. But his wild nights with celebrities and socialites are just the beginning of his tale. In this episode of 'Chasing Heroine', Jeannine and Narcan Nate sit down with Merrit to explore his incredible journey from addiction to recovery and beyond.
Sober since 2008, Merrit didn't just stop at getting clean; he rebuilt his life from the ground up. Now a Chemical Dependency Counselor and Case Manager, Merrit uses his past experiences to help others find their way to sobriety. His story isn't just about leaving behind a life of excess; it's about the power of commitment, daily affirmations, and the Twelve Step program. If you've ever felt like giving up, Merrit's journey might just be the inspiration you need.
Tune in to hear how he turned his life around and why he believes that a positive mindset can change everything.
