The cool thing is I've been able to vouch for or validate the kind of program I see you living because I know some of the guys who you sponsor and those guys, they're amazing. And you can always tell the quality of a guy's sobriety by the guys he sponsors and so I'll say to you I know they're not all 100% successful you get some you lose some but from what I know about you and the guys you sponsor and the way you work your program it's a message that people need to hear and and so what I often tell people is no matter how great your life gets go to more meetings if your life gets even go to more meetings. If your life gets even better, go to even more meetings because people need to hear in sitting in rooms who are feeling despair.
Imagine growing up in a military family, constantly on the move, making and losing friends with every relocation. That's the backdrop of Walt P.'s life. By the time he settled into college, alcohol had already woven itself into his daily routine. He drank more than his peers, and despite graduating and starting a promising career, his relationship with alcohol was heading towards disaster. Then came a curveball: a lupus-type autoimmune disease that took over his life for fifteen years.
While medications and painkillers became his new reality, he managed to avoid addiction to these substances. However, alcohol remained a constant companion, especially when the painkillers worked their magic. Once he overcame the autoimmune disease, his drinking escalated, wreaking havoc on his family life. It wasn't until a DUI shook him to his core that he sought help from Alcoholics Anonymous. In this episode of AA Recovery Interviews, Walt P.
opens up about his tumultuous journey through alcoholism and how the principles of AA helped him find a path to sobriety. His story is a testament to the power of fellowship, mentorship, and working the steps. Whether you're grappling with your own struggles or supporting someone who is, Walt's experience offers a beacon of hope and practical advice for navigating life without alcohol.
