Jonjon's Path: From Chaos to Clarity Through Sobriety

You don't have to live like that anymore, and there is a huge community of people willing to help.

Jonjon’s story is a rollercoaster of highs and lows, but it’s also one of hope and redemption. Growing up in Ohio, Jonjon always felt out of place, especially as a young gay boy in a conservative environment. His first escape was through TV, which later morphed into weed, alcohol, and the vibrant yet destructive nightlife of being a successful DJ. What started as a thrilling city life eventually spiraled into arrests, broken bones, lost jobs, homelessness, and panic attacks.

It was a life of chaos and misery. But then came a pivotal moment: a simple question to a friend about attending meetings led Jonjon to his first Alcoholics Anonymous gathering. Despite his initial skepticism, he found something unexpected—a community that offered him a template for living and a recipe for serenity. Now celebrating over 12 years of sobriety, Jonjon operates on a baseline of joy.

He shares how AA helped him shatter his preconceived notions about sobriety and spirituality, fostering connections with himself and others. With clever humor and candid reflections, Jonjon’s tale is both heart-wrenching and inspiring. Whether you’re grappling with addiction or supporting someone who is, Jonjon’s journey offers valuable insights into the transformative power of community support and the possibility of finding peace.
