Nancy's Story: From Teenage Alcoholism to Renewed Sobriety

I truly believe that this is a disease and it's an insidious disease that kills, and it's one that I have.
Imagine growing up in a bustling Hispanic, Catholic household, surrounded by love but also chaos and easy access to alcohol. This was Nancy's world. By the tender age of 16, she was already a daily drinker, grappling with depression and suicidal thoughts. Her first encounter with Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) led to an impressive 23 years of sobriety. However, life threw her off course, and she found herself slipping away from the program and back into old habits.
In this episode of the 'Keep Coming Back Podcast', Nancy candidly shares her journey through the highs and lows of addiction and recovery. She talks about hitting rock bottom and the moment she knew she had to find her way back to AA. With raw honesty, Nancy discusses the importance of self-reflection and the pivotal role of a new sponsor in her renewed path to sobriety.
Today, five years into her second round of sobriety, Nancy is a beacon of hope for anyone struggling with alcohol addiction. She loves sponsoring others and carrying the message of recovery, finding peace and growth in her daily life. Her story is a powerful reminder that even after a relapse, it's never too late to start again.
Nancy's tale is more than just a cautionary story; it's an inspiring testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of community support found in AA.
