Lori's Path: From Darkness to Sobriety

The thing that tortured me my whole life was shame. Still, you know I still have that I'm not lovable feeling...your story does such a great job of detailing how we can continue to grow if we stick around the rooms and life.
Lori's story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the human spirit. Growing up labeled as a 'problem child' with too much emotion, Lori faced a whirlwind of struggles, including bulimia and alcoholism. Her early years were marked by a constant desire to disappear and a deep-seated feeling of being a bad person, unworthy in the eyes of God.
This perception led her to view God as a source of fear and anger, which only fueled her feelings of abandonment and self-hatred. Lori's first experience with alcohol brought a fleeting sense of freedom from her anxiety, but it quickly spiraled into a cycle of addiction and suffering. Despite hitting rock bottom and attempting suicide twice, Lori's journey took a turn when she entered treatment.
Initially, she didn't fully embrace the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), but over time, she found solace and support in the community, particularly from the women who welcomed her with open arms. Through many ups and downs, Lori learned the importance of perseverance and staying committed to the program's steps and principles. Today, Lori is open about her past and allows people to see the real her.
Her story is not just about overcoming addiction; it's about finding strength in vulnerability and hope in recovery. Tune in to hear Lori's inspiring journey on the Keep Coming Back Podcast.
