Tilda B.: Finding Sobriety Across Continents

I'm a very happy customer Today, and gratitude is at the core of everything.
What happens when you combine a vibrant London upbringing with the unique cultural landscape of Nairobi, Kenya? You get Tilda B.'s incredible 28-year journey of sobriety. In this episode of 'AA Recovery Interviews', hosted by Howard L., Tilda opens up about her path from the chaotic streets of London to the bustling life in Nairobi.
Her story is a blend of struggle and triumph, marked by her early years in a dysfunctional family and her eventual escape into the world of alcohol. Despite the turbulence, Tilda managed to secure a higher education and some significant jobs, but her drinking eventually spiraled out of control, leading to a life of misery and self-loathing. Everything changed when she found Alcoholics Anonymous in London. Through the support of the AA community, she embraced sobriety and rebuilt her life.
A dream job offer took her to Nairobi, where she faced new challenges adapting to different cultural norms around alcohol. However, Tilda's experience in AA helped her quickly integrate into Nairobi's AA community, establishing a strong support network. The advent of Zoom meetings allowed her to reconnect with old friends and continue her recovery journey across continents. Tilda's story is not just about overcoming addiction; it's about finding joy, gratitude, and fellowship in sobriety.
Her experiences highlight the universal power of the AA program and the transformative impact it can have, no matter where you are in the world.
