When I am blank, I feel most like myself. Stumped you? When I am blank, I feel most like myself. I don't want to say working, but that's the first thing that comes to my mind because it's really like, that's what I feel like I'm using all my gifts like I'm doing what I was made for. This was my purpose. I've done a lot of jobs along the way, and this is what makes me. It gives me when I'm taking somebody. Oh God, that's so codependent. Listen, if it makes you happy, you know what I mean? And you found your purpose, then I think that's important. There's no wrong answer here.
Imagine starting your day cleaning up after your parents' parties and discovering a taste for alcohol at just 11 years old. That's how Laureen's story begins. A mother of two from New York, Laureen has now celebrated 31 years of sobriety, but her path to get there was anything but easy. In this episode, she opens up about her early struggles with alcohol, which eventually led to homelessness and a near-death experience that made her wish for the end.
Despite the darkness, Laureen found her way back home with the help of a supportive community and family. She emphasizes that getting sober is not a solo journey; it requires the love and support of others. Host Kristen and Laureen discuss the critical moments that pushed her towards recovery and the ongoing battle to stay sober. This episode is a heartfelt reminder that even in our lowest moments, there is hope and a way forward.
Laureen's story is a testament to the power of community, resilience, and the unwavering human spirit.
