So yeah, during that time, I'll tell you that I almost lost the house into foreclosure. I did go into treatment. And what ended up happening is that I had sold the house and went into a 30 day treatment. And during that 30 day treatment, my mom and my sister had moved all my stuff into a storage unit. And, um, while, um, while I was, uh, in, in treatment, I was going to go move some, move some stuff. And I, I was before, before I went into treatment, I was going to go move some stuff. And I, and again, I was a blacked out, blackout drinker, right. i had rented to move uh u-haul um to go move some stuff and and i was so like hungover i could not even move i was so drunk i could not even move and stuff and called u-haul to um tell them that i was going to keep it the next day and and then went and the next day and i moved some stuff and and then um, got everything finished moving into the storage unit. And then, um, I started selling stuff, you know, my furniture and things like that to kind of, you know, get by. And one day feed the addiction at that point. Yeah. And one day my mom went with me to the storage unit to meet some people that were going to buy my bedroom suit. And when we pulled up to the storage unit, all of a sudden, these cops and undercover cops cars just swarmed us.
Ever felt like your struggles with alcohol are insurmountable? Stevie B. from Phoenix, Arizona, knows that feeling all too well. In this gripping episode of the Soberoso podcast, host Dora Gosselin sits down with Stevie to unravel her tumultuous journey through addiction and recovery. Stevie's story begins with a sense of not fitting in and finding solace in alcohol.
What started as a coping mechanism quickly spiraled into multiple run-ins with the law, including several DUIs and a life-changing encounter with a probation officer. For six years, Stevie managed to stay sober, but personal tragedy, a failed attempt to start fresh, and a painful breakup led her back to alcohol. Her relapse was marked by a shocking incident involving a stolen U-Haul and felony charges.
Throughout her journey, Stevie faced numerous blackouts, initially believing she wouldn't end up like the stereotypical alcoholic stories she had heard. Yet, her narrative is one of resilience, repeatedly falling and rising in her quest for sobriety. This episode offers an unfiltered look at the highs and lows of addiction, making it a must-listen for anyone seeking hope and understanding in their own battles.
