Tehillah Alphonso: Crafting a Life of Music and Authenticity

I think, just as my vocal reel was sent out and even my teachers would tell me you should meet with this person, you should meet with this person, people that they work with in the industry.
Ever wondered what it takes to make it in the music industry while staying true to yourself? Meet Tehillah Alphonso, a Grammy-nominated singer whose journey is as inspiring as her voice. In this episode of 'Cracking Open with Molly Carroll', Tehillah shares her story from her early days in Nebraska to performing at legendary venues like the Staples Center and Carnegie Hall. Tehillah's path wasn't always easy. Growing up as a Nigerian-American in Nebraska, she faced her share of challenges.
But it was at Marian High School, an all-girls Catholic school, where she first began to understand the power of self-belief and determination. Encouraged to take pride in herself and her abilities, Tehillah's passion for music flourished. Her journey took a significant turn in 2014 when she joined the A Cappella Academy, setting the stage for her future success. As a student at the University of Southern California, she didn't just excel academically; she thrived musically.
Leading USC's premier a cappella group, the SoCal VoCals, Tehillah's talent shone brightly, opening doors to performances at some of the most iconic venues in the world. In this candid conversation, Tehillah talks about the grit and perseverance needed to break into the music industry. She discusses her roles as a background vocalist and music arranger, and her involvement in the Grammy Awards. More importantly, she reflects on how staying authentic has been crucial to her success.
Whether you're an aspiring musician or someone looking for a dose of inspiration, Tehillah's story is a testament to the power of believing in yourself and pushing through barriers. Tune in to hear her advice on embracing your true self and pursuing your passions with unwavering determination.
