Susan L's Path to Sobriety: Embracing Faith and Forgiveness

I still have trouble with the god part of this book. The allergy was present at the beginning of my drinking sometime in high school, I just knew that I was going to drink until the jig was up.
Susan L’s story is a heartfelt testament to the power of faith and forgiveness in overcoming addiction. Growing up in an alcoholic household, Susan learned early on how to keep her drinking habits hidden. This secrecy allowed her alcoholism to persist for three decades. It wasn't until her marriage ended and she hit rock bottom that she found herself in a treatment center, where she experienced a life-changing 'white light' moment with God.
From that point, she committed fully to her recovery program and recently celebrated 13 years of sobriety. In this episode of The Magdalen House's podcast, Recovered, Susan opens up about her journey through Step 3 of the 12-Step program, where she confronted her selfishness and embraced faith as a cornerstone of her recovery. She also discusses the significance of Big Book Thumper meetings and how she overcame dry drunk syndrome.
Susan’s candid reflections offer hope and inspiration to anyone facing similar struggles. Listeners will find Susan’s story both moving and relatable, especially as she shares how she found forgiveness for her mother and herself. Her journey underscores that recovery is achievable, even when the odds seem insurmountable. This episode is a must-listen for those seeking encouragement and insight into the transformative power of faith and community support in the recovery process.
