Sarah's Journey: From Teenage Alcoholism to Sobriety

I've been diagnosed with depression, bipolar, all different things, and my drinking on top of the medications they were giving me was just making it worse. And for some reason I just told her exactly what I was doing. I don't know why, but it was like a moment of god consciousness or something.

Sarah’s story is a raw and honest look into the life of a teenager grappling with alcoholism. Believing she was born an alcoholic due to her family history, Sarah started drinking at just 16 years old. By her second drink, she was already experiencing blackouts. Within four years, her drinking spiraled out of control, leaving her feeling suicidal and desperate.

It was a school counselor who stepped in and guided her to her first AA meeting, marking the beginning of her journey to sobriety. Now, with over two years of sobriety under her belt, Sarah shares the highs and lows of her recovery journey. She talks about the pivotal role her sponsor played in helping her stay on track and the newfound joy she has discovered in simple, everyday moments.

Sarah’s story is not just about overcoming addiction; it’s about finding hope and resilience in the darkest of times. Her narrative serves as a beacon for anyone struggling with addiction or mental health issues, showing that recovery is possible with the right support system. This episode of Steppin' Out Radio is a must-listen for anyone seeking inspiration and understanding in their own journey towards sobriety.
