Elizabeth Gagnon: From Survivor to Advocate Through Tea Parties
So you know survivors of abuse, we encourage survivors of abuse to rise up and to speak up, because your voice is so important, it's so powerful, it's first account of the abuse, and your voice is needed for those that are not even ready...
Ever wondered how someone can transform a life filled with trauma into a mission for change? Meet Elizabeth Gagnon, a remarkable survivor from Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. Elizabeth's story is one of extreme abuse, starting with childhood sexual abuse at the age of four and continuing through domestic violence and even being sold to her ex-husband.
Her early years were a whirlwind of foster care and unimaginable hardships, including becoming pregnant by an uncle at 14 and losing the child as a stillborn. Despite these harrowing experiences, Elizabeth has emerged as a powerful advocate for survivors everywhere. In this episode of 'Stop Child Abuse Now' (SCAN) - 2920, Elizabeth opens up about her journey and the pivotal moments that led her to healing.
One such moment was writing her first anthology book, part of the 'Sacred Hearts Rising' series, where she and others shared their stories. She also penned chapters in 'Unstoppable Gems', describing her life as a butterfly transformation. But Elizabeth didn’t stop there; she founded Miss Liz’s Tea Parties/Teatimes in 2015, a unique platform aimed at raising awareness about abuse and celebrating individuals making a difference. Elizabeth's Teaching Educational Awareness (T-E-A) program is another cornerstone of her advocacy.
Through this initiative, she educates others about the dangers of abuse and promotes healing and recovery. Her message is clear: survivor voices are powerful tools for change. By sharing her story, Elizabeth provides hope and inspiration to those on their own healing journeys. Tune in to hear Elizabeth's compelling story and learn how she's turning her painful past into a force for good.
This episode is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of sharing one's truth.
