John Souza: Shattering Silence and Seeking Justice
It's beyond the point of holding in anymore. I think your soul is releasing everything we have all lived through this in Our Day.
Ever wondered how someone finds the strength to confront their darkest memories? Meet John Souza from Rhode Island, a new voice in the NAASCA family, who courageously shares his harrowing story for the first time. Growing up, John faced unimaginable horrors. His mother struggled with schizophrenia, and his father was an alcoholic who sexually abused him. But the nightmare didn’t end there.
John was also assaulted by neighborhood children and later by a Lutheran pastor he trusted as a father figure. This pastor’s abuse spanned four long years, leaving deep scars and a profound mistrust in John. Today, that same pastor still serves the community, a fact that continues to haunt John.
In this episode of 'Stop Child Abuse Now', John opens up about his journey through this trauma, the lasting impact it has had on his life, and his path towards healing. He discusses the importance of breaking the silence around child abuse and educating society to support survivors better. With resources available in Spanish, this episode aims to reach a broader audience, offering hope and practical advice for those on their own paths to recovery.
