I feel like we can't do any of this alone, and we shouldn't have to. If I can be a resource to anyone, if I was a resource today or can be in the future, I would love to, because I feel like we can't do any of this alone, and we shouldn't have to.
Melissa Santana's story is one of incredible resilience and transformation. Growing up in Euclid, Ohio, Melissa faced the harsh realities of both child abuse and domestic violence. Her journey from these traumatic experiences to becoming a beacon of hope for others is nothing short of inspiring. In this episode of 'Stop Child Abuse Now', Melissa opens up about her past, including the struggles she faced with her alcoholic mother and the impact of witnessing abuse at a young age.
But Melissa didn't let her past define her. Instead, she used it as a stepping stone to help others. Now a social worker in downtown Cleveland, she connects high school students with vital resources through programs like Say Yes Cleveland. Her work doesn't stop there; as a bilingual peer education coordinator for Planned Parenthood Greater Ohio, she educates adults on various aspects of sexual health.
Melissa also hosts her own podcast, 'Santana Says', where she discusses interpersonal violence and shares her personal experiences. Described as energetic and driven, Melissa's positive outlook and dedication to advocacy make her a powerful voice in the fight against abuse. Tune in to hear how she turned her pain into purpose and continues to inspire others to seek help and embrace healing.
