Embracing Step 2: Finding Your Higher Power in Al-Anon

I'm going to say god because I can say that word now. I do think, for me personally, at least having not grown up with any definition of a higher power, that I really had an advantage there because I didn't have any obstacles to overcome, like Spencer had mentioned, that sort of dominating god that is referred to in some religions, that that could be a major obstacle for people to overcome where I was just coming from- a total blank slate, and so I could just have it be whatever it is.
Ever felt overwhelmed by the chaos of addiction in a loved one? Episode 127 of 'The Recovery Show' tackles this head-on with an exploration of Step 2 in Al-Anon's 12-step recovery program. Hosts Spencer, Kelli, and Swetha dive into their personal experiences with the concept of a higher power, offering a mix of insights and heartfelt stories. They each share how they found a power greater than themselves to help restore sanity in their lives.
Whether it's through the collective energy of Al-Anon meetings, self-awareness, or a more spiritual approach, the hosts provide various perspectives on what a higher power can be. The episode also highlights the importance of surrendering control and focusing on one's own recovery. It's about finding peace and serenity amidst the turmoil of loving someone with an addiction.
