Tracy's Journey: Finding Strength and Hope in Recovery
I went to school for Six Years and became a licensed therapist while being a single parent in recovery, and I started as a waitress in a truck stop and I worked my way up through better jobs and better cars and better housing until we finally I was able to buy my own home twice now and get this career that I have, and now I actually have three children now and we travel often and we have a genuinely happy life.
Ever wondered how someone finds the strength to overcome addiction? In this special holiday episode of 'If I'm Being Honest', Dan Karaty sits down with Tracy, a woman whose journey from the depths of addiction to a life of purpose and hope is nothing short of inspiring. Despite growing up in a family where alcohol and cigarettes were absent, Tracy always felt a nagging sense of inadequacy.
This internal struggle led her down a dark path, culminating in a life of addiction and self-destruction. At her lowest point, she was hiding from arrest warrants in a friend's cellar. It was only when she discovered she was pregnant that she made a life-changing promise to herself and her unborn child: to get clean and sober. Tracy's path to recovery was anything but smooth.
She faced numerous obstacles, especially as a single parent, but her unwavering commitment to a better life for herself and her children kept her going. Through the support of a strong community and sheer determination, Tracy found the strength to overcome her addiction and rebuild her life. Her story serves as a powerful reminder that recovery is possible, no matter how dire the circumstances. Tune in to hear Tracy's heartfelt story and find inspiration for your own journey towards recovery.
