Bloomberg Fellows: Building a Healthier Future, One Community at a Time
The fellowship program is creating a national network of change agents who are working to make a difference in their communities in one or more of our five focus areas.
Imagine being part of a national network dedicated to tackling some of America's most pressing public health issues. That's exactly what the Bloomberg Fellows Program offers. This unique fellowship, created by the Bloomberg American Health Initiative, provides full scholarships for individuals passionate about making a difference in areas like addiction, adolescent health, environmental challenges, obesity, and violence. But it’s more than just a scholarship; it's a commitment to service and community impact.
Graduates are required to work with their collaborating organizations for at least a year, ensuring that their newfound knowledge and skills directly benefit their communities. In this episode, you'll hear from Faria Zaman and Shane Bryan from the Initiative team, who discuss the program's goals and opportunities.
You'll also meet Maia Gibbons, a graduate who worked with the Youth Empowered Society in Baltimore, Thaddeus Pham from the Hawaii Department of Health, and Sarah Lester from the Maplewood Memorial Library in New Jersey. They share their personal experiences, highlighting how the fellowship has shaped their careers and communities.
Whether you’re interested in public health or looking for ways to create meaningful change in your community, this episode offers valuable insights into how education and service can go hand-in-hand to build a healthier future.
