It was one of these things where it was a very incestuous environment, just from the church's point of view.
Picture growing up in a conservative religious household in the Midwest, where strict gender roles were the norm. This was Alex's reality. From an early age, he knew he was different—more drawn to men than women. But his journey to self-acceptance was far from straightforward. Tragically, as a preteen, Alex was raped by a male cousin, adding layers of trauma to his already complicated life. Upon graduating high school, Alex set out to explore the world and discover himself.
Yet, his hometown remained a place where his orientation was not accepted, pushing him into unhealthy relationships in his search for acceptance. It wasn’t until he began his recovery journey that Alex started to understand the political and social forces shaping his views. Pursuing a career in the arts, despite his religion's disapproval, Alex initially found solace in using sex as a coping mechanism.
However, as his addiction grew, he realized the need for a structured recovery plan that would help him replace negative behaviors with positive ones.
