Caitlin's Journey: Finding Hope After Her Father's Overdose

I guess my only other thing that I would have to say to anybody listening that maybe uses this term is to not refer to somebody with a substance abuse problem as a junkie, because every time I hear someone refer to somebody with a substance abuse problem as a junkie, I cringe because you're comparing somebody to garbage and they're not garbage.
Imagine knowing your loved one is struggling with addiction, yet still feeling the shock and heartbreak when they pass away. This is Caitlin's reality as she shares the story of her father, Sean, who died from an accidental overdose at 57. Despite trying to prepare herself, Caitlin's world was shattered when she received the news from her mother.
Sean's addiction began after battling PTSD and withdrawing from pain medication, but Caitlin remembers him as a vibrant and funny person who everyone loved to be around. In this deeply moving episode, Caitlin opens up about the impact of her father's addiction on their family, including her parents' divorce. She talks about finding solace in GRASP meetings, where she connects with others who have lost loved ones to overdose.
Caitlin emphasizes the importance of talking about those we've lost to keep their memories alive and stresses using respectful language when discussing substance abuse. Her story is a poignant reminder of the devastating effects of addiction and the healing power of sharing our experiences. Tune in to hear Caitlin's heartfelt journey and find comfort in remembering.
