I'm uniquely qualified to help others and bring them down that path, and I have this gift that I have to give away. You could live this life and give them a lot of hope.
Scott D's journey to sobriety is nothing short of remarkable. Growing up in Rockaway Beach, New York, Scott had a seemingly typical childhood with hardworking parents. But lurking beneath the surface was a family history marred by alcoholism and tragedy. His grandmother was an alcoholic who abandoned the family, and his uncle's life was cut short in a tragic incident.
Scott's own battle with addiction began at the tender age of 11, leading him down a destructive path of drug and alcohol abuse through his high school and college years. Despite maintaining decent grades, his substance abuse was spiraling out of control, resulting in numerous consequences and close calls. It wasn't until his parents intervened and sent him to rehab that Scott began his journey to recovery.
Initially, he struggled to fully engage with Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), but around five years into his sobriety, something clicked. He found a sponsor who guided him through the 12-step program, and his life began to change for the better. Scott met his wife, started a family, and committed himself to sobriety and helping others. Despite facing personal challenges, including his mother's declining health, Scott remains dedicated to his recovery and continues to mentor younger individuals seeking sobriety.
